Lachlan Robson
BSc (Hons) | James Cook University
Lachlan is a current Bachelor of Science Honours student with a keen interest in all things fish. Growing up in regional Victoria, his fascination with aquatic life was fuelled by keeping multiple fish tanks and inspired by regular family holidays to the coast, going fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving. Escaping the cold, he moved to North Queensland to study a Bachelor of Marine Science by the reef, here in Townsville.
Lachlan is currently employed by the Queensland Department of Primary Industries (DPI), conducting recreational fisheries surveys. He is passionate about conservation and fisheries management and enjoys spending time outdoors, especially anything that involves being around the water. His current research with the Fish and Fisheries Lab involves a partnership with DPI, investigating the effects of alternative fishing gear on fish bycatch survival.
Lachlan's current project:
-
Post-release survivorship of emerging species in the reformed east coast inshore fishery
